A permutation (or iBox) is every unique arrangement of 4 digits. The count depends on the digit pattern: 4, 12, or 24 permutations.
For numbers with three identical digits (AAAB pattern), e.g. 1112:
1112, 1121, 1211, 2111
Only 4 unique arrangements because three of the four digits are identical.
For numbers with one repeating pair (AABC pattern), e.g. 1123:
1123, 1132, 1213, 1231, 1312, 1321, 2113, 2131, 2311, 3112, 3121, 3211
For numbers with 4 unique digits (ABCD pattern), e.g. 1234:
Produces 24 permutations (4! = 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 = 24), such as 1234, 1243, 1324, 1342, 1423, 1432, 2134, 2143, ... up to 4321.
